We seem to keep answering the same questions over and over again about the Multi-Jamma boards, so we decided to put together this list of Frequently asked questions in the hope that some of the mystery surrounding these boards will dissolve. If there's something that we failed to cover, just drop us an email, and you'll not only get an answer, your question will probably be added to this list!!

First things first, try reading the manual, that may answer some of your questions. You can download a .pdf version of it here. While not perfect, it does cover a lot of info about these boards. Next, let's go over some of the components on the board, since this seems to be a main area that generates lots and lots of questions. Please note corresponding numbers on the picture above:

1. Yup, that's a standard Molex power supply connector. I'm not sure why you would need this, but I guess if you don't have a switcher hooked up to your Jamma harness, you could power it up from here.

2. Yes, that's a VGA connector. You can hook up a VGA monitor to this board, just make sure your dipswitch settings are correct on the board. There's more on that in the "PCB Dipswitch Settings" section of the manual.

3. Speaker jack. Simple enough.

4. Volume control. Clockwise is loud, counter-clockwise is less loud. Use a very small Phillips-head screwdriver on this to avoid boogering it up.

5. "CON 2" is as far as I know, not for the end user. No conceivable use has been determined for this yet. If you know of one, please let us know, we will add it here.

And now, without further ado, we move on to the list of Frequently Asked Questions!!

Q: Hey, my board doesn't look exactly like the one in the picture... what's up with that?
A: Sometimes the boards will change up a little bit, but they usually have pretty much the same array of connectors, etc., (the new 60-in-1 has extra connectors for trackballs).

Q: There is a connector labeled CON2. It something able to plug into this connector (or is it only used to program the board)?
A: See above

Q: Some of the games (Centipede, Millipede) use a trackball, but I see no connector to attach a trackball (and the JAMMA pinout doesn't support a trackball either). How/Where do you connect a trackball to my 48-in-1?
A: As of right now, the manufacturer does not support a trackball for this board. If you're planning on using trackballs, you should go with the 60-in-1.

Q: There is a power connector labeled CON8. Is this meant to allow auxiliary power in place of power supplied by the JAMMA connector (or does this board require power from CON8 as well as power from the JAMMA
connector)?
A: This board does not require an additional power source if your Jamma harness already has a switching power supply hooked up to it. You may be able to use this in lieu of a switcher, but I don't really see why you would.

Q: There is a connector label J1. Is this connector for an external stereo speaker? Does VR1 adjust the volume level on J1?
A: Yes and yes! See above.

Q: I have a 9-in-1 board. Can I add more games to it?
A: Unfortunately, no. We have asked the manufacturer about this many times, and we never seem to get a reason why, just "no".

Q: My board came today, and when I installed it and turned on my machine, it didn't work! What am I supposed to do with this piece of crap now?!?
A: First, take a deep breath. Ok... we offer a 90 day warranty on all Multi-Jamma's against DOA. All we ask is that you cover the shipping back to us, we'll take care of the rest. I should mention that we test every board we sell before it ships, so the odds of getting a DOA board are pretty slim. We've had 1 board come back in over a year, and the guy admitted that he had the power hooked up wrong and he smoked it. We were still able to cover it under warranty!

Q: How the heck do I get into this setup menu you're talking about in the manual? I don't see a test switch on this board anywhere!
A: When we say "test switch" or "service switch", we are of course referring to the switches on your cabinet. If you don't have them on your cabinet, you're going to have to wire some up to your jamma harness. There's a pinout in the manual that shows you where they should be. We suggest holding down the "test" button while you power up the machine to get into the setup menu. You can also use dipswitch 4 on the board to get into the menu. The rest is fairly self explanatory.

Q: Do these games look and play just like the originals?
A: Quite frankly, yes. Unless you had the original machine sitting right next to it while you were playing the game, you probably wouldn't even know the difference. There are, of course, a few quirks, but for the most part, they are pretty close. The biggest compliant usually concerns some of the sounds in the Konami games, which are a little off.

Q: Can I set this board for freeplay/Can this board be set to take quarters?
A: Oh yeah, there are many, many coin adjustments that can be made, check the manual.

Q: Didn't I just ask you when they were going to come out with a new update? You said you didn't know, and now there's a 60-in-1, what's up with that?
A: All I can say is, we don't know anything about the update until it happens, and I apologize!!

Q: What happened to the horizontal boards that you guys were selling??
A: Well, just like we said, sometimes they change their minds, and now the horizontal's aren't available anymore. Rumor has it that they may return in the near future and be even better, so stay tuned for an update! (EDIT: They are back!!)

Q: Ok, so what's the deal with all the cheap boards on ePay, and how come yours cost more?
A: I can't speak for the sellers on eBay, but I can tell you that the market has been flooded by cheap knock-offs of our board, which has made our supplier finally lower their price to us, and that means we can offer you a lower price. I know that there is a Chinese board out there that is a copy of the one we sell, but I can't tell you how reliable it is, what kind of warranty they offer, or what kind of service you are going to get from them. What I can tell you is that we offer a 90-day warranty on our boards, we offer excellent customer service, and we speak English!

Q: Uh, am I hallucinating, or did I see a copy of this FAQ somewhere else on the web, even with the same picture!?!
A: No, you're not hallucinating, someone has decided to "borrow" our faq for their own site. I think this speaks volumes about the kind of people you're dealing with when you see stuff like that. We've left them a little "easter egg" on there though, we'll see how many people find it!

Q: Hey, they added 12 "new" games, but 5 of them were already there... doesn't that make this a 55-in-1 board?!?
A: Well, technically, yes. But here's the deal: Some people like Ms Pac fast, but some don't. So by putting those Pac games on there twice, you can have a fast and normal speed version of both without having to go back into the setup every time to change the speed. See, they were just trying to make it easier on you!

Q:Cool! There's trackball support now, but how come you don't offer it on the cocktail version?
A: Well, you have to use the player 2 control wiring on the jamma harness for the trackball, so you really can't have a 2-player game with a trackball for each player, sorry. It's still pretty cool that you can get it on all the upright versions though! (EDIT: This has changed! See below...)

Q: Are the 12 new games included on the 48-in-1 board?
A: No, the 12 new games make it a 60-in-1...

Q: Wait a second, you just said that the 60-in-1 only supports 1 trackball, but the listing on your site says "dual-trackball"... what gives?
A: Well like I said, sometimes they update these boards with little or no warning, and now they come with 2headers soldered to the board where you can hook up track balls, how cool is that?

Q: So you're telling me I can put this in my cocktail cabinet, and both players can use a trackball?
A: Yes, that's what we're saying...

Q: Um, you told me you couldn't get the horizontal boards any more, but I see them listed on your site. Are you just teasing or what?
A: Nope, not teasing... I told you they might come back, and they did!

Q: Hey, is there an easy way for me to put one of these boards in my Pac Man machine?
A: Actually, there is now... Check out our new "Jamma to Pac" adapter, it's basically plug-and play...
