So,
you're a daring soul, and you want to remove the chassis from your defunct
G07 monitor. Maybe you want to cap it with one of our fabulous cap kits,
or maybe it just stopped working and you need to send it off for repair...
Whatever the case may be, removing your chassis is quite quick and easy.
The part that scares people away is the thought of 'discharging' the
monitor, which can be frightening at first, but after you do it a few
times, it's no sweat. Since a monitor can actually store a charge, even
when the power is off, it is imperitive that it is discharged first.
The rest is just gravy... We encourage you to read through the entire
process a couple of times before attempting, and if you an unsure at
the slightest, you probably shouldn't attempt this. This page is merely
a guideline, and is in no way intended to be an alternative to professional
repair! Your milage may vary! If you're still game, click on a picture
for a better look and further instruction... |

| Your basic G07 - holy crap, all those wires! |
Here's
a view from the top - kind of intimidating |
First
things first, unplug the power! |
It's
so important, I'll say it twice: unplug it! |
Now
you need a high-tech tool... |
Ground
it to the frame |
Slide
the screwdriver under the suction cup... |
Here's
a crappy pic of what you're trying to hit... |
...here's
a better pic, with more info... |
...and
the tube afterwards. Whew, tough part over! |
| Good
news, the hard part is over! Hopefully, you didn't get electrocuted! |
|
Remove
ground wire from neck board... |
...and
then remove the neck board |
Unplug
the wires to the left... |
...and
then the ones to the right |
Remove
the screw from the left... |
...and
then the right |
| |
|
Slide
the whole mess straight back, it'll look like this... |
...and
this is what it looks like when it's out... DONE! |
That's
all there is to it! Now you can replace all those burnt caps, blown
fuses and other parts that just don't want to cooperate. And remember
where to go when you need parts for these... right here! |
